HMY - What is it?

chicosThe Home of the Mother of the Youth (HMY) is a group of Christian youth that has begun in the Church and is at her service. Their goal is to follow Jesus Christ and fulfill their three missions:the Defense of the Eucharist, the Defense of the Honor of Our Mother, especially in the privilege of her virginity and the conquest of the youth for Jesus Christ.

Currently, the youth of the Home of the Mother are in many countries: Spain, United States, Canada, Ecuador, Italy, Nicaragua, etc.

Short History of the HMY

On the 29th of July, 1982, six girls began the youth group called the Home of the Mother of the Youth whilst on a pilgrimage directed by the Founder of the Home, Fr. Rafael Alonso Reymundo, a diocesan priest.

A year later, on the 27th of December, 1983, the male branch of the HMY was born.

By the express desire of the founder, these two branches were commenced before the tomb of the Apostle St. Peter in Rome, in order to manifest in this way that the work of the Home of the Mother must be based on the obedience to the Pope and to all the bishops in communion with him.

ninasCommitments

There are three levels of commitments in the HMY, but these commitments common to all the members of the Home of the Mother:

- A spiritual life, virtues and apostolate according to one's state of life and level of commitment.
- Confession at least once a month.
- A five minute examination of conscience and praying three Hail Marys and Hail Holy Queen before going to bed.
- Making known to others the richness of one's life by apostolate.
- To receive the imposition of the Scapular of Our Lady of Mount Carmel as soon as possible if it hasn't already been received.
